Job Application Strategy - Hallie Crawford
Job Application Strategy Now that youâve identified jobs to apply for through your networking efforts, youâre ready focus on job applications. Most importantly, when applying for a job, follow the instructions to the letter. If it says fax in your application, fax it. Donât try emailing or calling, and do not send after the deadline unless you know for certain that the initial deadline date has been extended. If you know of a specific company youâd like to work for, visit their website â" most companies have a careers web page. If they arenât accepting applications, they might give instructions on how to stay updated should new positions open up. If you are sending your resume via email, place your cover letter information as part of the email text and your resume as the attachment. Remember though, if the company specifies they want it done differently, do it their way since some employers donât accept attachments, or only want attachments, according to specific instructions. If you are applying in person be sure to have all the information youâll need with you. Keep it organized on a printed-out sheet. Donât forget to include your references with contact information so they can phone or write your references directly.
